Workout app costs and cancellation

Separate the advertised monthly equivalent from the full charge, renewal amount and cancellation route.
The practical answer: Record the actual charge and period before comparing workout apps. Annual software access, a short introductory offer and a membership with a human coach are different purchases.
Selected published prices
These US-dollar examples were checked on November 3, 2026. Website, app-store, device and personalized checkout offers can differ. They are purchasing examples, not a ranking of exercise results or a claim that we tested each app.
| Service and source | Published payment example | How to read the figure |
|---|---|---|
| FitnessAI 1 | $89 per year | About $7.42/month as a budget allocation. The published example is an annual price, not a $7.42 monthly subscription. |
| Fitbod 2 | $15.99 monthly or $95.99 annually on its website | Twelve unchanged monthly payments total $191.88. The annual option is a different payment commitment, about $8/month when allocated across 12 months. |
| JustFit 3 | Confirm the selected offer | We did not verify a universal public US checkout price. Record the initial charge, period and later renewal for the channel that bills you. |
| Future, a separate coaching category 4 | $50 first month, then $199/month | Three monthly payments at this offer total $448. This is a coach-led service, not the same service category as software-only planning. |

The cost of changing your mind
A smaller annual equivalent does not mean smaller cash due today. Paying $95.99 for a year and paying $15.99 for a month answer different questions about commitment and flexibility. Choose a comparison period that matches how long you realistically intend to use the service.
For a short trial of a service, write down the trial end date and the entire next charge. A free download can lead to a recurring subscription, and a low first payment can be followed by a larger renewal. Do not assume the price on a public website is the offer shown in a separate app-store checkout.
Budget for costs outside the subscription too: required equipment, a gym, a compatible device or optional purchases. Ask which features are included on your operating system and whether coach contact is live, asynchronous or absent. A marketing reference to “personal training” does not establish a clinician’s supervision.
Match cancellation to the company that bills you
- Apple purchase: use the Apple account’s Subscriptions controls. Apple’s current cancellation instructions5 explain how to find them.
- Google Play purchase: use the subscribing Google account’s subscription controls. Google explicitly says uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription6.
- Website purchase: follow the provider’s account or support process and keep confirmation. Fitbod’s FAQ describes a Cancel control under Your Plan and access through the paid cycle.
- Any channel: record the end date and check the receipt for the next bill. Cancellation and a refund request are different actions.
The FitnessAI terms describe advance recurring billing; app-store purchases follow the relevant store’s management rules. JustFit’s support page likewise directs store purchases to the store. For a web offer, use the terms of the website that actually charged you rather than assuming the store can cancel it.7
Future’s current offer advertises a full refund when cancelling within 30 days. Its general membership terms separately govern cancellation and later paid periods. Confirm the offer’s procedure and eligibility; do not treat an introductory promise as an unlimited refund rule for every renewal.8
Common subscription questions
Which app is the best value?
That depends on the service you need and will use. Compare verifiable features and the complete payment commitment. This document-based price comparison does not establish workout quality, safety or outcomes.
Should I divide an annual price by 12?
You can do so for budgeting, provided you keep the full annual charge beside the result. An equivalent monthly number does not change the charge schedule or the refund policy.
Does removing my account stop billing?
Do not assume so. Find the cancellation procedure for the actual billing channel and keep confirmation that future renewal has stopped. Deleting an app alone is not enough for a Google Play subscription.
